My fore hatch leaked during the winter. I knew what was wrong but I needed at least one warm day to fix it. One of the sunny Saturdays I tried to do this job. I was deeply touched after I climbed on the deck and found out that the pigeon made a nest on my bowsprit, just between the anchor pulpit’s elements. The pigeon-mom looked at me with her black bead-eyes – asking for – “do not disturb please”. How could I start working with grinder in this area? This task was postponed for …. I do not know how long it is going to take her. I hope that there will not be a lot of rainy days – no, not because of the leak but because of the pigeon – no shelter, no roof, and no umbrella brrrr…. I took my tools back under the deck. I had to change my schedule for this day. I took a walk around – you can image how surprised I was when I find more pigeon nests in ends of the masts stored next to another boats. The big aluminum tubes created perfect place for the shelters. My pigeon wasn’t so lucky – my mast was already on.

A lot of money over there
The Flotilla of the brand new catamarans is ready to leave the harbour.
One of the abandoned pigeon’s nests was built right on the end of the mast.

The waterfront nest

I will have to paint the bowsprit.
I wanted to get closer but you can see my pigeon-mom.
I installed two plates – on both sides – for lightning protection. I made it out of SS plates 1 sq.ft each, and fixed through the hull by three 3/8” bolts welded directly to the plate.

New potential leak spots

Home made fibreglass tubs. Is it enough 3" of the vent pipe?
I also installed my dorade boxes. The boxes are made of the StarBoard
I fixed two small holes to get the water into the shaft pipe to lubricate the cutlass bearing. I had a small leak last year in this area.

I do not like this solution.

The bags were too much bigger than supposed to be.
Another reached milestone for the SeaGoat - during the Eastern I picked up my set of sails. LeeSails in Hong Kong made the sails. In this picture there is Bob – LeeSails representative and myself
