May and June 2006
May was actually the first month this year that I was able to start working with serious tasks. It was also time to check in what condition the SeaGoat is in after the winter.
I started with the engine it was the first start this year and the first problem appeared. I filled out the engine system with antifreeze before winter. I started the engine and I found out that my water pump leaks. I do not know how it happened but it looks like I will have to begin my first engine lesson very soon.
I started working with electrical installation, and tried to keep all wires in order and with no mess. I do not know how long I will be able to do that but so far it looks clean and nice. My Electrical DC/AC control panel got for the first time the burst from the battery and from the shore power.
Last year I promised myself to install the bilge pump with no temporary wires, screws and so on. I made a simple bracket and added the wire connector. Now it is easy to remove and disconnect the pump quickly.
I decided also to get rid of old junk. The first was my radio. It looked horrible covered by resin and fibreglass but it kept me company during last few years and it did a good job. I will have to find an empty corner in my garage for it it is not going to be an easy task there are no empty spots in my garage at all.
During May and June 2006 I spent a lot of time to find the right sailing gears. I calculated the block loads and ordered the right parts. After almost two years my winches found their spots some on the mast and the biggest ones in the cockpit area. I tried to spend as much time as possible to get the SeaGoat ready for her first trip. A lot of small jobs were done and by end of June it looked like the SeaGoat was going to be ready for sailing next month.
